Durable Construction for Demanding Environments

Built from cold rolled silicon steel and equipped with high conductivity copper windings, this transformer delivers exceptional reliability in outdoor settings. Its epoxy powder-coated exterior and porcelain/epoxy bushings offer enhanced resistance to moisture and corrosion, making it suitable for installations in regions with up to 95% RH ambient humidity.

Advanced Safety and Performance Features

With IP44 ingress protection and dead-front/live-front terminal options, safety is prioritized for various site requirements. The step-down transformer utilizes mineral oil cooling (ONAN type) to maintain operating temperatures between -30C and +40C, ensuring stable and efficient power delivery even under challenging climate conditions.

FAQ's of Pad Mounted Transformer:

Q: How does the off-circuit tap changer (OCTC) function in this transformer?

A: The off-circuit tap changer allows manual adjustment of output voltage to accommodate variations in input supply without requiring transformer energization. This feature ensures optimized voltage regulation in changing grid conditions and must be operated with the transformer de-energized for safety.

Q: What installation process is recommended for the pad mounted transformer?

A: The transformer should be installed on a prepared pad or plinth in a well-ventilated outdoor location, ensuring accessibility for maintenance. Follow all local electrical codes and manufacturer guidelines, particularly regarding grounding, incoming and outgoing cable connections, and terminal type selection (dead-front or live-front) as per site needs.

Q: When is it beneficial to choose dead-front versus live-front terminals?

A: Dead-front terminals enhance operational safety by preventing accidental contact with live energized parts, making them preferred in public or high-traffic outdoor areas. Live-front terminals are suitable for controlled environments where direct terminal access for testing or maintenance is necessary.

Q: Where can this transformer be optimally utilized?

A: This pad mounted transformer is suitable for outdoor power distribution systems in industrial estates, residential complexes, infrastructure projects, and utility substations, especially where conditions may involve high humidity, moderate altitude (up to 1000 m), and exposure to the elements.

Q: What are the key benefits of using this transformer model?

A: Key advantages include high operational efficiency (98%), low noise emission (<50 dB), robust overload handling (120% for 2 hours), long service life (>25 years), and conformity to global standards (ANSI C57, IEC, IS), ensuring safe and reliable performance over a range of demanding environmental conditions.

Q: How does the transformer maintain such high efficiency and low load loss?

A: The use of cold rolled silicon steel cores, dual winding coil structure, and high conductivity copper materials contribute to minimized core and copper losses. Together with advanced insulation and adept cooling via mineral oil (ONAN), this design ensures efficiency up to 98% and load losses less than 5% at full load.
